ARTIST BIO

I spent my early years dabbling in graphic design, signwriting and photography. After a brief sojourn I picked up the brush again in 2010 and have since held several exhibitions with a number of art works now in collections across Australia and the US.

I’m both a writer and artist so aim to bring a narrative to each piece I create. While I focus on portraits with a twist, I also have my Fractured Fairytales’ series which reimagines and combines traditional fairytales, juxtaposing innocence and humour with menace. Select paintings from Fracture Fairytales have been exhibited at Poet House, Thornbury.

I have a penchant for strong female characters with attitude so naturally my current series features such characters as Little Red Riding and Alice in Wonderland. Works can be viewed at www.olwynconrau.com
