ARTIST BIO

My name is Lan Pagliaro. I am a Melbourne based artist. For the past 7 years I have concentrated seriously about developing my art skills to a level I can be proud of. Through practice, determination and much dedication I have taught myself how to use many different mediums. My favourite mediums are soft pastel, watercolour paints and charcoal. I have experimented with many more, including oils, acrylics, alcohol ink, acrylic ink, collage and mixed media.

Through my art I try to connect with the viewer on an emotional level. Recently I have been doing a lot of portraiture inspired pieces. My aim always being to capture the essence of my subject in a raw and organic way.

I prefer not to box myself into a particular art style, and I am always exploring different ideas and techniques. I am constantly experimenting and I believe that often through failure do you lean to succeed.

My creative process always begins with my mood. I seek my inspiration from how I am feeling. I try to be as expressive and as honest as possible through my art. Sometimes my art is dark, quirky, weird, serene, peaceful or even disturbing. It is all coming from a direct reflection on myself.

My hopes for the future is to continue to create, explore and master new techniques, and grow as an artist. I would like to enter into more art shows and art prizes and have the opportunity to connect with many more viewers.
